About the Project – Hinkley Point C

HPC is the UK’s first new nuclear power station in over two decades. Its two EPR reactors will produce 3.26GW of low-carbon electricity—enough to power 6 million homes for the next 60 years. The project is creating thousands of jobs and delivering major economic and environmental benefits to the UK.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Field Engineer / Welding Inspector to join the HPC project team. This role focuses on conducting surveillance activities to ensure construction work complies with technical specifications and quality standards. You will support the Construction Superintendent and collaborate closely with contractors, engineers, and site teams.

This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and welding engineering principles, quality assurance processes, and construction industry standards. You will play a key part in upholding the project’s nuclear safety culture and quality targets.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct inspections and surveillance to ensure works meet contractual and quality requirements

Identify and report non-conformances; assist in issuing non-conformance reports

Monitor and document work progress, ensuring compliance with specifications

Maintain strong communication with site teams and contribute to reporting and KPIs

Proactively identify potential quality issues and support corrective actions

Support implementation of temporary quality or safety measures where needed

Suggest and contribute to improvements in procedures and policies

Qualifications & Experience

Degree, diploma, or equivalent vocational training in Mechanical Engineering, Welding, or Materials Engineering

Broad knowledge of engineering construction practices, materials, and trades

Working experience with standards such as RCC-M, BS EN, and ASME codes

Proven ability to write accurate and concise reports/diaries

Previous experience in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects

Strong attention to detail and quality control under pressure

Effective team collaboration and relationship-building with contractors

Knowledge of French is advantageous but not required

CSCS or similar certification (desirable)
