Role Overview
If you are a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse looking to grow your career beyond hospital settings, this Community Staff Nurse role offers a rewarding pathway. Based in the Bridgwater Bay area, you will deliver high-quality nursing care directly in patients’ homes across both urban and rural communities in West Somerset.
You’ll join a supportive and skilled team that works collaboratively across the region, ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and personalised care where they feel most comfortable.
Working Pattern
This role is designed to support a healthy work-life balance:
- Day shifts typically between 8:00am – 6:00pm
One twilight shift per week (2:00pm – 10:00pm)
1 in 4 weekends, with enhanced pay for unsocial hours
No night shifts required
Flexible and part-time options available
As a community-based role, you will need access to your own vehicle. A mileage allowance is provided to cover travel costs.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Community Staff Nurse, you will deliver a wide range of clinical care while working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your role will include:
- Providing nursing care to patients in their own homes
Managing complex health conditions and supporting recovery
Developing and implementing holistic care plans
Administering medications, including IV therapies
Delivering palliative and end-of-life care
Supporting patients with wound care, diabetes management, and continence needs
Managing clinical procedures such as PICC lines and drainage systems
Working closely with services like Hospital@Home to prevent hospital admissions
You will be supported by experienced Clinical Leads and receive ongoing training to build your confidence and clinical expertise.

Who We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with valid professional registration
Degree in Adult Nursing (BSc or equivalent)
Suitable for:
- Experienced community nurses
Newly qualified nurses (with structured preceptorship support)
