Job Summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Associate Practitioner to join the Mental Health Team based at HMP Deerbolt.
This role is suitable for qualified practitioners only (not open to trainees). Applicants must hold a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) along with Level 2 literacy and numeracy skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, you will support the delivery of planned care within the mental health team, contributing to both clinical and therapeutic interventions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting care pathways for individuals with mental health needs
Assisting in the delivery and coordination of group-based interventions
Carrying out physical health checks for patients, including:
- ECG recordings
Venepuncture (blood sampling)
Delivering care under the guidance of registered practitioners and team leaders
Promoting recovery, wellbeing, and social inclusion
Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency team
Participating in service improvement and quality initiatives
You will receive structured supervision, a comprehensive induction, and access to ongoing training and development opportunities.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent (e.g. Registered General Nurse)
Level 2 skills in literacy, numeracy, and IT
Essential Experience
- Experience working with individuals with mental health needs, social care needs, or learning disabilities
Previous experience in a care setting (e.g. Band 2/3 Healthcare Assistant or equivalent)
Knowledge
- Understanding of person-centred care
Awareness of evidence-based practice
Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks, including mental health legislation
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication
Effective time management and prioritisation
Desirable:
Training in venepuncture
