Job Description

About the Role

The University of Sussex is looking for an Assistant Admissions Systems Manager to support and enhance the systems that underpin the student admissions journey.

In this role, you will be central to ensuring that admissions systems run smoothly and evolve to meet the needs of applicants and staff. Working closely with the Senior Admissions Systems Manager and wider Admissions Team, you will help manage system processes, support improvements, and contribute to system development initiatives.

You’ll act as a key link between operational users and technical teams—translating requirements, supporting testing, and ensuring system changes are implemented effectively. Your work will directly influence how applicants experience the University from their first interaction through to enrolment.

This role aligns with UK higher education admissions standards and data handling expectations

What You’ll Be Doing

You will play a hands-on role in both system operations and development support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing day-to-day admissions system processes and ensuring accuracy
Supporting system enhancements by gathering requirements and writing specifications
    Testing system updates before implementation
Maintaining clear documentation and audit trails of system changes
Identifying opportunities to improve processes and applicant experience
Supporting colleagues with system queries and providing guidance

You’ll balance routine operational work with project-based tasks, ensuring systems remain reliable during peak admissions periods.

About You

You’re organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working with systems and data. You enjoy solving problems and improving processes, especially when it enhances user experience.

You should have:

  • Experience working with admissions systems or related areas (e.g., enquiries, scholarships, CAS compliance)
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
An analytical mindset with attention to detail
Confidence communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to translate operational needs into system requirements

Familiarity with UK student visa processes and compliance frameworks would be beneficial
