About the Institution

About the Fellowship
This prestigious fellowship offers an opportunity to pursue independent, high-quality research in Albanian Studies over a two-year period (September 2026 – August 2028).
The successful candidate will design and deliver a focused research project that contributes meaningfully to the field. Alongside research, the Fellow will play an active role in teaching, particularly by supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students, including dissertation supervision.

Key Responsibilities
Research
- Develop and lead an original research project in Albanian Studies
Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and academic outputs
Present research to academic and non-academic audiences
Teaching & Academic Support
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
Supervise student dissertations in relevant subject areas
Engage with interdisciplinary teaching across SSEES programmes
Academic Contribution
- Participate in seminars, workshops, and collaborative research activities
Support the broader academic community within SSEES
Promote innovative and open research practices
About You
You will be an early-career academic with a strong foundation in Albanian Studies and a passion for impactful research and teaching.
Essential Criteria
- PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. Anthropology, History, Politics, Sociology, Linguistics, or related fields)
Demonstrated research experience focused on Albania
Fluency in Albanian (written and spoken)
Proven ability to produce high-quality academic work
Strong organisational and digital skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Moodle)
Personal Attributes
- Collaborative and proactive approach
Ability to manage projects independently
Commitment to inclusive, open, and ethical research practices
