The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is looking for an experienced and motivated Estates Supervisor to join its dedicated Estates and Facilities team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineering or maintenance professional who wants to play a vital role in supporting frontline healthcare services across multiple hospital sites.
Working within a busy NHS environment, you will help ensure that buildings, engineering systems, and operational services remain safe, compliant, and effective for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
About the Role
As Estates Supervisor, you will work closely with the Estates Operational Manager to oversee day-to-day maintenance operations across the Trust’s estate, including selected PFI-managed facilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising operational estates and engineering maintenance activities
- Supporting the delivery of safe and compliant building services
- Monitoring maintenance standards in line with healthcare regulations and technical guidance
- Managing compliance, audits, and quality assurance processes
- Supporting ISO9001:2015 quality standards within the department
- Working collaboratively with contractors, clinical teams, and internal departments
- Promoting continuous improvement, safety, and operational efficiency
- Assisting with workforce planning and performance management
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical expertise with leadership responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong background in estates maintenance and engineering services
- Experience leading operational or maintenance teams
- Knowledge of NHS healthcare estates compliance, HTMs, and engineering standards
- Specialist Authorised Person qualifications in relevant engineering systems
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- Ability to respond flexibly to operational service demands
- Commitment to delivering safe and effective healthcare environments
- Applicants should also be prepared to work outside standard hours when operationally required.
