NHS Forth Valley is seeking an experienced and motivated Health Visitor to take on a leadership role within its evolving Health Visiting Service. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and families while supporting the development of community healthcare services across the region.
The successful candidate will combine clinical expertise with operational leadership, helping to deliver safe, person-centred care to families with pre-school children while supporting and supervising qualified Health Visitors across the service.
About the Role
This position offers a balanced combination of clinical and leadership responsibilities within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.
The post holder will:
- Support delivery of the Universal Health Visiting Pathway across the locality
Work collaboratively with Health Visitors, Primary Care teams, and partner agencies
Provide formal clinical supervision and professional guidance to qualified Health Visitors
Assist the Clinical Nurse Manager with operational leadership and service management
Promote safe, accessible, and family-centred care for children and parents
Contribute to service improvement and workforce development initiatives
Support safeguarding and child protection processes within community services
The role requires flexibility, professional judgement, and a commitment to delivering high standards of public health nursing practice.
Key Skills and Experience Required
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Strong leadership and communication skills
A solid understanding of GIRFEC principles and their application in practice
Knowledge of current public health and child health policy frameworks
Experience working within child protection and safeguarding systems
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams
Confidence using digital healthcare and IT systems
Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice
Due to the geographical coverage of the service, candidates must be willing and able to travel throughout the NHS Forth Valley area.
Essential Qualifications
To apply for this opportunity, candidates must have:
- Degree-level education
First-level registration as a Nurse or Midwife
Active Health Visiting qualification recorded on Part 3 of the NMC register
Relevant post-registration experience within health visiting or community practice
Evidence of ongoing professional development and clinical learning
Training and development opportunities will be available, including additional support in clinical supervision where required.
