Role Overview
An opportunity has opened for a Community Mental Health Practitioner to join the Scarborough Integrated Community Mental Health Team. This service focuses on delivering high-quality assessment, treatment, and support to adults experiencing mental health challenges, helping them move towards recovery and improved wellbeing within their local community.
This role is well suited to both experienced practitioners and final-year student nurses due to qualify within the next three months, with a structured preceptorship programme available to support your transition into practice.
For candidates requiring sponsorship, this position may be eligible under the Skilled Worker visa route, subject to meeting UKVI criteria
What You’ll Be Doing
As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will:
Manage your own caseload, providing care coordination for individuals with a range of mental health needs
Carry out comprehensive mental health assessments and develop personalised care plans
Deliver therapeutic interventions within community settings
Work closely with families, carers, and partner organisations to support recovery
Collaborate with statutory services and third-sector organisations
Contribute to ongoing service development and innovation within the team

Training & Development
You will be supported through:
- A structured induction and preceptorship programme (for newly qualified staff)
Regular clinical, managerial, and peer supervision

Essential Requirements
Qualifications
- Current professional registration with a recognised UK regulatory body
Evidence of continuous professional development
Level 2 literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
For nursing applicants: willingness to complete recognised teaching/assessing and clinical supervision qualifications within an agreed timeframe
Experience
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs
Desirable:
- Community-based experience
Multidisciplinary team working
Partnership working with external agencies and carers
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of best practice in mental health care
Knowledge of key legislation including
Awareness of safeguarding principles
Ability to carry out risk assessments and care planning
Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
Awareness of clinical governance and supervision practices
Additional Information
- This role requires travel across the local area; access to a vehicle is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered under the Equality Act 2010)
