Role Overview
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced clinician to join the Teeswide CAMHS Crisis Team, supporting children and young people during some of their most challenging moments.
As a Band 6 Crisis Clinician, you will work autonomously within a fast-paced environment, delivering urgent mental health assessments and creating immediate care and safety plans for young people and their families.
 About the Service
The CAMHS Crisis Team provides a 24-hour, 7-day service to children and young people (up to age 18) across Teesside who are experiencing acute mental health or emotional crises.
The service focuses on:
- Rapid assessment and intervention
Crisis stabilisation
Preventing unnecessary hospital admissions
Supporting young people to remain safely in the community
 Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Conduct urgent mental health and risk assessments for children and young people in crisis
Develop and implement safety and care plans in collaboration with families and carers
Provide short-term interventions focused on stabilisation and risk management
Offer telephone advice and support to young people, families, and professionals
Monitor mental state and adjust care plans accordingly
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and partner agencies
Take a lead role during shifts, helping coordinate service delivery when required
 Working Pattern
24/7 service requiring day, night, weekend, and bank holiday shifts
Flexible rota within a supportive team structure

 Essential Requirements
Qualifications
Registration with a recognised professional body (e.g. NMC, HCPC, Social Work England)
At least 18 months post-qualification experience, including completion of preceptorship or competency framework
Commitment to ongoing professional development
(Desirable)
- Additional qualifications in leadership, CAMHS, or therapeutic approaches (e.g. CBT, family therapy)
Experience
Working with children, young people, and families
Experience in multidisciplinary team settings
Ability to provide or contribute to clinical supervision
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of key legislation
Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities
Strong skills in risk assessment and crisis intervention
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
Effective communication with young people, families, and professionals
