Role Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and motivated administrator to join a busy and growing CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service supporting children and young people up to the age of 18.

You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of clinical services by providing essential administrative and secretarial support within a multidisciplinary mental health team.

The service operates across Stanley and Sedgefield, and occasional travel between sites may be required to support service delivery, meetings, or staff cover.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support

  • Handle incoming emails, telephone enquiries, and general correspondence
    Input and update referrals on NHS patient record systems
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and clinical files
    Organise, file, and retrieve patient documentation efficiently

Clinical Team Support

  • Prepare and send appointment letters and clinical reports
    Attend clinical meetings and panels, taking accurate notes and recording outcomes
    Support coordination of assessments within the neurodevelopmental pathway

Office & Operational Duties

  • Carry out general office tasks such as photocopying, filing, and postage
    Manage stationery supplies and process invoices where required
    Support the maintenance of administrative systems and workflows

The CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service is a growing multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive assessments for children and young people with neurodevelopmental needs.

The team works collaboratively across health, education, and social care to ensure timely and effective support for families.

Person Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in Business Administration (or willingness to work towards)
    Functional skills in English and Maths (Level 2 or equivalent, GCSE Grade 4/C or above)

Essential Experience

  • Experience working in an office or administrative environment
    Experience handling phone calls, emails, and customer service tasks
    Ability to manage multiple workloads and prioritise effectively
    Experience maintaining records and administrative systems
    Ability to work independently and proactively

Essential Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    High attention to detail and accuracy
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within an NHS or clinical environment
    Familiarity with NHS systems
    Experience supporting staff or supervising others
    Experience handling financial processes or invoices
