Role Overview
This role offers the opportunity to shape how cutting-edge research reaches the people who can use it most. As Research Communications & Impact Manager, you will lead the strategy and delivery of communications for the ESRC-funded Digit Centre, ensuring that its work influences policy, practice, and public debate.
The Centre focuses on how digital technologies are transforming the world of work and what this means for individuals, organisations, and society. Based at the University of Sussex, you will collaborate with colleagues across a network of leading institutions including University of Leeds, University of Cambridge, University of Manchester, and Monash University, as well as policy and industry partners.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Designing and delivering a comprehensive communications and impact strategy
Increasing the visibility and reach of research outputs across multiple audiences
Building strong relationships with policymakers, businesses, trade unions, and third-sector organisations
Planning and managing events that connect research with real-world stakeholders
Translating complex research findings into accessible, engaging content
Monitoring and reporting on impact and engagement activities
Supporting collaboration across partner institutions and networks
You will play a key role in ensuring that research findings inform decision-making and contribute to meaningful change.
About You
You are a confident communications professional who understands how to connect research with wider audiences. You are equally comfortable developing strategy and delivering practical outputs.
You will bring:
- Experience in communications, public engagement, or research impact roles
Strong project management skills, including event planning and delivery
The ability to build partnerships and influence stakeholders
Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas
A collaborative and proactive approach
Interest in research related to digital transformation, work, or public policy
