Role Overview
This is a practical, patient-facing role within a busy Nuclear Medicine department, supporting both clinical and technical aspects of diagnostic imaging services.
You’ll be working as part of a multidisciplinary team across key hospital sites in South Glasgow, helping deliver a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures. The department is well-equipped with modern imaging technologies, including SPECT-CT scanners and gamma cameras, and handles a high volume of patient activity each year.
This role suits someone who is organised, reliable, and comfortable working in a clinical environment where both patient care and technical accuracy are essential.
Working Pattern
- Part-time: 20 hours per week
Typical working days: Wednesday to Friday
Shifts between 08:30 and 16:30
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Assist patients during nuclear medicine examinations
Provide reassurance and support throughout procedures
Prepare patients for imaging and laboratory investigations
Ensure patient dignity, comfort, and safety at all times
Technical & Departmental Duties
- Support imaging procedures involving specialised equipment
Assist in handling materials used in diagnostic imaging (including radioactive substances under supervision)
Carry out preparatory tasks for clinical procedures
Maintain accurate patient records and appointment systems
Administration & Organisation
- Update and manage patient data using Radiology Information Systems
Help coordinate patient flow and appointments
Ensure clinical areas remain safe, clean, and well organised
Safety & Governance
- Follow strict safety procedures, particularly in relation to radiation and infection control
Adhere to national safety and workplace standards
Support safeguarding responsibilities where appropriate

What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- SVQ Level 3 in a healthcare or science-related subject (or equivalent)
Basic qualifications in core subjects (e.g. Maths, English, Science)
Experience & Skills
- Experience in healthcare or a scientific/technical environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good organisational and IT abilities
Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
Desirable
- Additional qualifications in healthcare or science
Experience working with imaging or technical equipment
Understanding of dementia care
Completion of a Healthcare Science Support Worker competency portfolio
