About the Role
An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced and motivated Clinical Specialist Nurse to join the Primrose Service, working within a secure custodial setting.
This role is ideal for a registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) who is passionate about supporting women with complex personality difficulties and high-risk behaviours.
You’ll be working within a psychologically informed multidisciplinary team, helping women understand and manage the link between their mental health, personality, and risk—while promoting recovery and wellbeing.
 Note: Prison clearance and current manager approval are preferred for this secondment role.
 About the Service
The Primrose Service operates within HMP Low Newton and forms part of a national Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway, delivered in partnership with health and justice services.

 Your Key Responsibilities
 Clinical Leadership & Expertise
- Lead on delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care
Carry out specialist assessments, diagnosis, and care planning
Maintain professional standards in line with NMC Code of Conduct
 Patient Care & Intervention
- Manage a complex caseload independently
Deliver therapeutic interventions tailored to individual needs
Support service users and their families/carers through effective communication
 Quality Improvement & Governance
- Participate in audits, service evaluation, and continuous improvement
Ensure compliance with clinical governance frameworks
Contribute to maintaining safe and effective care standards
 Team Collaboration
- Work closely within a multidisciplinary team
Provide supervision and mentorship to colleagues
Support team managers in service delivery and development
 About You
 Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RMN, RNLD, or RGN where applicable) with current NMC registration
Practice Assessor/Supervisor qualification (or working towards)
Clinical supervision training (or willingness to complete)
Postgraduate qualification (or commitment to achieve within 2 years)
Willingness to undertake advanced clinical training (e.g. CBT, DBT, Family Therapy, or Independent Prescribing)
 Experience & Knowledge
- Significant experience working with individuals with complex needs and risk behaviours
Strong background in clinical risk assessment and management
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
Involvement in service improvement or audit work
You’ll also have a solid understanding of:
- Safeguarding practices
Medicines management
Psychological approaches to care
UK legislation such as the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
