Job Description
About the Role
At Seafield Vets, this role is designed for vets who enjoy hands-on emergency work and want a schedule that genuinely supports their lifestyle.
You’ll be part of a dedicated out-of-hours team providing essential care to farm and equine clients. While daytime teams focus on routine and preventative work, your role ensures animals and farmers receive critical support when it matters most.
This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in emergency and surgical cases, particularly in farm animal practice.
 What You’ll Be Doing
Responding to farm and equine emergencies during out-of-hours periods
Managing cases independently, including obstetrics and urgent surgical work
Supporting local farmers and building trusted relationships
Working collaboratively with the wider veterinary team
Delivering high-quality care in a range of real-world scenarios
The caseload is varied and seasonal—busy lambing and calving periods bring hands-on challenges, while quieter months allow time to recharge.
 Work Pattern & Flexibility
This role is built around true work-life balance:
1 week on, 3 weeks off (primary rota)
Alternative option: 1 week on / 1 week off (salary adjusted)
Shifts:
Monday–Thursday: 6:00 PM – 8:00 AM
Friday–Monday: continuous weekend cover
During your working week, you can operate from provided accommodation or from home if based locally.
