The Role: Facilities Engineer
Location: Peterlee, County Durham (fully onsite, 5 days per week)
Salary Range: £39,994 – £46,000
Hours: 36.5 per week
In this pivotal position, you’ll drive operational excellence by overseeing facility maintenance and enhancements at our Peterlee site. Your expertise will ensure seamless support for production goals, focusing on reliability, safety, and efficiency across our infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
You’ll play a central role in upholding site infrastructure, with duties including:
- Executing reactive and preventive maintenance to keep operations running smoothly.
- Tracking inventory for tools, parts, and supplies tied to building systems and utilities.
- Providing initial response to service issues and user requests for facility support.
- Collaborating with fellow engineers to serve production teams and value streams.
- Championing a safety-first mindset among staff and external partners.
- Guiding capital initiatives aligned with strategic goals and site needs.
- Facilitating resource allocation for new product introductions and expansion efforts.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Effective Communication (Working Knowledge): Skill in conveying ideas clearly, interpreting feedback, and fostering team alignment through tailored methods.
- Problem Solving (Working Knowledge): Proficiency in identifying issues early, applying proven tools, and crafting solutions for varied operational challenges.
- Project Management (Basic Understanding): Familiarity with planning, tracking, and resource optimization to deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Manufacturing Standards, Procedures, and Policies (Working Knowledge): Ability to enforce compliance while guiding processes in a production setting.
- Plant Facilities Management (Working Knowledge): Expertise in overseeing the lifecycle of physical assets, from upkeep to upgrades.
- Troubleshooting Technical Problems (Working Knowledge): Competence in diagnosing and fixing issues in manufacturing contexts using systematic approaches.
Preferred Background:
- HNC or equivalent as a baseline; degree or related experience highly valued.
- Proven track record in facilities upkeep, including multi-site or large-scale operations.
- Hands-on involvement in environmental, health, safety, and equipment monitoring.
- Experience supporting business shifts, vendor coordination, and regulatory adherence (e.g., PUWER, LOLER, CORGI, IEE).
- Strong analytical mindset, creative problem-solving, and proficiency in PC tools, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification, or demonstrated safety enhancements, a plus.
- Deep insight into production environments and cross-functional site dynamics.
