An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a key role in supporting research, engagement, and innovation at the University of Reading. We are looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to join our Research Contracts Team, part of the wider Research Engagement and Innovation Office (REIO).

REIO provides strategic and operational support to academic colleagues, enabling high-impact research, industry collaboration, and knowledge exchange across the University.

About the Role

In this role, you will manage a diverse and dynamic portfolio of research and innovation contracts. You’ll be responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and authorising agreements that underpin the University’s research and engagement activities. You’ll work closely with academic colleagues and external partners to ensure contracts align with University policies, funding requirements, and strategic goals.

You will also be encouraged to contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and best practices within the team.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a motivated individual with a service-oriented mindset and a strong background in contract negotiation and drafting. Ideally, you will have experience in the higher education or research sector and be confident navigating complex negotiations to deliver positive outcomes for all parties.

You will have:

  • Proven experience in contract drafting and negotiation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach
  • A creative and pragmatic mindset to resolve complex issues
  • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively at a senior level
  • A team-oriented attitude and a willingness to share expertise and support colleagues

Based on the relevant Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) code, this role may be eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
