About the Role
WMG, a world-leading research institution at the University of Warwick, is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive complex multi-partner projects in battery materials and cell manufacturing.
This role is central to the Energy Innovation Centre (EIC), which includes a £13 million Battery Materials Scale-Up Pilot Line, supporting the development of new battery chemistries from concept to prototype.
As a Lead Engineer, you will:
Lead technical delivery across multiple industry and research projects
Work closely with WMG’s Catapult partnership with CPI on the Advanced Materials Battery Industrialisation Centre (AMBIC)
Support WMG’s partnership with UKBIC, contributing to the Flexible Pilot Line (expected launch: Q4 2025)
Engage with stakeholders (internal & external) to shape industry-driven innovation

About You
Extensive experience in a chemistry laboratory or converting industry
Strong background in battery manufacturing, coatings, or material science
Significant expertise in electrochemical energy storage technologies
Ability to operate independently while fostering collaboration across multiple organisations
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong health and safety awareness in lab and industrial settings
