Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, organised, and motivated individual to join our team as a Ward Housekeeper / Hygienist in a busy Elective Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Surgical ward.
You will play a key role in supporting the ward’s smooth daily operation by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, stock management, and equipment maintenance. Working closely with the nursing team and an existing housekeeper, your role will contribute directly to enhancing the patient care environment.
Main Responsibilities
Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic ward environment in line with infection control standards.
Manage ward supplies, including effective stock ordering, receiving, storage, and rotation.
Ensure that ward equipment and medical devices are kept clean and maintained according to protocols.
Support general non-clinical duties that assist with patient care and ward functioning.
Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure all areas are adequately prepared and resourced.
What You’ll Need
Essential:
GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Understanding of workplace health and safety.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Good communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Desirable:
Working towards the Care Certificate.
Experience in a customer-facing role or care environment.
Previous experience in stock control, cleaning, or supplies management.
Basic IT or keyboard skills.
Awareness of good customer care principles.
