About the role

We are pleased to invite applications for a Dispensary Pharmacy Assistant to join the Pharmacy team at Watford General Hospital. This role plays an important part in ensuring patients receive the right medicines safely, efficiently and on time.

Working under the supervision of qualified pharmacy professionals, you will support the dispensing and supply of medicines for both inpatients and outpatients, while also contributing to stock management and day-to-day dispensary operations.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with hospital or community pharmacy experience who is looking to develop their career within an NHS hospital environment. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Assist with the accurate dispensing and supply of medicines
  • Receive, process, store and rotate pharmaceutical stock safely
  • Support stock control and inventory management processes
  • Respond professionally to queries from patients, carers and healthcare staff
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow medicines governance procedures
  • Carry out dispensary reception and administrative duties as required
  • All work will be undertaken in line with NHS policies, medicines legislation and patient safety standards.
