Summary

GE Aerospace Wales is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Planner / SIOP Coordinator to join our team on an 18-month fixed-term contract.

In this role, you will coordinate and optimize the flow of materials and production schedules to ensure timely delivery in line with SQDIP priorities (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity). You will serve as the key interface between shop operations and other business functions, ensuring smooth communication, accurate scheduling, and efficient execution of production plans.

Your focus will be on improving turnaround times (TAT), reducing delinquency, minimizing costs, and ensuring on-time customer delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, maintain, and update production schedules to ensure alignment with operational plans and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Track the progress of engines, modules, and piece parts through each repair stage, ensuring targets for TAT and labour hours are met.

Identify and escalate any deviations from daily schedules or standard work processes.

Generate and issue gate closure reports, assigning actions, tracking ownership, and ensuring consistency across product lines.

Collaborate with supply chain and support teams to address material availability and highlight potential supply risks.

Coordinate with operations to understand labour capacity, accounting for absences, leave, and training schedules.

Contribute to long-term capacity planning for labour, tooling, and equipment within the wider SIOP team.

Maintain and update site planning systems and tools, including SAP, engine plans, and automated scheduling trackers.

Lead twice-daily production meetings (AM/PM) to provide accurate status updates and escalate issues as necessary.

Work closely with maintenance teams to schedule preventive and essential maintenance while minimizing impact on production.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and process performance.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Familiarity with engine overhaul processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in production planning or scheduling.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles, especially standard work.
  • Understanding of GE Aerospace’s SQDIP framework.
