About the Role
We are seeking a Lecturer (Teaching) in Quantitative Social Sciences and Technologies to join the Department of Arts and Sciences (UASc). This fixed-term post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our innovative teaching portfolio and interdisciplinary curriculum.
The postholder will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, with particular focus on the BASc in Arts and Sciences and MASc in Creative Health. The role emphasises interdisciplinary quantitative approaches, including:
AI and large language models (LLMs) with social and behavioural applications (e.g., network analysis, quantitative economics, social and behavioural design).
Quantitative research methods relevant to the social sciences (e.g., economics, sociology, econophysics).
Technology and digital cultures in interdisciplinary contexts.
Interdisciplinary education and methodological innovation.
Please note: we are not seeking applicants with a computer science background.
The postholder will:
- Deliver and develop teaching across BASc and MASc modules such as:
- BASC0001: Approaches to Knowledge – Introduction to Interdisciplinarity
- BASC0052: Research Methods in Arts and Sciences
- BASC0024: Final Year Dissertation
- Serve as a Personal Academic Tutor to approximately 30 undergraduate students.
- Contribute to the Societies and Sciences and Engineering pathways.
- Support curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration across UCL faculties.
- Teaching will primarily take place at the Bloomsbury campus, with some activities based at UCL East.
About You
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in an interdisciplinary field relevant to quantitative social sciences and technologies (excluding computer science).
Essential criteria:
- Experience teaching and developing curriculum in quantitative social science or related interdisciplinary fields.
- Expertise in applying quantitative and technological approaches in the context of social science or humanities.
- Ability to engage and mentor students from diverse academic backgrounds.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable:
- Experience working across academic departments that span the sciences, humanities, and social sciences.
- A record of interdisciplinary research or pedagogical innovation.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for both a Skilled Worker visa and a Global Talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) legislation.
