About the Role
Do you want to make a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable adults?
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Case Worker to join our Appointee & Deputyship Team (ADT) within Adult Social Care (ASC). In this role, you will help adults manage their personal finances and make decisions in their best interests, ensuring their money is handled safely, fairly, and with dignity.
You will review clients’ financial arrangements, support benefit and income applications, and ensure timely payment of bills and essential expenses. The role also includes a variety of administrative tasks, such as managing correspondence, responding to emails and phone enquiries, and maintaining accurate records.
Training is provided, including the opportunity to gain accreditation with the Association of Public Authority Deputies (APAD).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review clients’ finances, including benefits, income, and expenditure.
- Process payments and maintain accurate financial records.
- Communicate with clients, families, and partner organisations by phone, email, and post.
- Support best-interest decision-making for vulnerable adults.
- Complete administrative tasks to ensure smooth running of the team.
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational ability and attention to detail.
- Good numeracy and confidence working with financial data.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work under pressure.
- Effective team player with a commitment to person-centred support.
Desirable
- Previous experience in social care, finance, or a local government setting.
- Understanding of safeguarding and mental capacity principles.

- Structured induction and mentoring from experienced team members.
- Access to professional training, including APAD accreditation.
- Opportunities for vocational qualifications through the Council’s Apprenticeship Programme (from entry to degree level).
