Summary

Dowty, a GE Aerospace company, is seeking a Lean Leader to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement across the business using GE Aerospace’s proprietary FLIGHT DECK lean operating model. This role focuses on improving key business outcomes in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) by optimizing processes, enhancing productivity, and fostering a culture of problem-solving and continuous improvement.

As the Lean Leader, you will report to the Dowty Global Flight Deck Leader and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement lean strategies, coach leaders, and ensure sustainable process improvements that support the company’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coach Lean initiatives using GE Aerospace’s FLIGHT DECK methodology to drive measurable improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).

Partner with business and functional leaders to define Lean strategies, priorities, and improvement roadmaps.

Act as a Lean coach and mentor, building capability across teams through training, Kaizen events, and hands-on problem-solving sessions.

Facilitate the identification and resolution of complex business challenges using structured Lean tools such as Kata, Hoshin Kanri, and Standard Work.

  • Promote and sustain a culture of continuous improvement by engaging employees at all levels.
  • Implement solutions to eliminate inefficiencies and enhance process flow, quality, and safety.
  • Ensure sustainability of improvements through standardization, documentation, and regular audits.
  • Serve as a change agent, challenging the status quo and fostering innovation aligned with the FLIGHT DECK framework.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in process improvement, lean management, or operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive cultural and operational change.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and coaching skills.

Desired:

  • Recognized change agent with the credibility to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities; familiarity with Six Sigma tools and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing sustainable lean transformation in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
