Job Description

Summary

GE Aerospace is seeking a skilled Test Technician to carry out fault-finding and repair of electronic systems, including Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), Lower-Level Replaceable Units (LLRUs), and Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). You will diagnose faults to component level, specify necessary repairs, and ensure products are restored to full operational condition. This role requires a strong understanding of electronic testing, diagnostic processes, and adherence to engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and fault-find failed electronic modules, LRUs, and LLRUs down to component level.
  • Support production and testing processes, including Functional and ICT testing for PCBs, and ATP and ESS testing for LRUs.
  • Set up and operate test equipment to perform diagnostics and verification tasks.
  • Log and maintain detailed failure data accurately within the FRACAS database.
  • Collaborate with Cell Support and Engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Follow all company procedures, test processes, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing and diagnostic methods.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: HNC in Electronics Engineering, City & Guilds in Electronic Servicing, or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven ability to fault-find and repair electronic equipment to component level using circuit diagrams and technical documentation.
  • PC literate with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge or awareness of high-voltage systems.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn new technical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take ownership of tasks.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including shifts where required.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with electronic test equipment and testing procedures at sub-assembly, unit, and PCB level.
  • Familiarity with ESS (Environmental Stress Screening) methods such as vibration and thermal testing.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Hands-on experience in manufacturing or aerospace testing environments.
