Job Description

About the job

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated MSK Physiotherapist to join our Occupational Health & Wellbeing Service, supporting staff across South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Leeds & York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, as well as a number of external partner organisations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomous practice, values early intervention, and is keen to support the health and wellbeing of NHS staff in a proactive, prevention-focused environment.

Why this role might be perfect for you

  • Varied MSK caseload including management referrals, self-referrals, virtual appointments, and face-to-face clinics across Wakefield and Barnsley.
  • Work–life balance with no weekend work and the option to work some days remotely or within a compressed working pattern.
  • Purpose-driven practice focused on promoting employee wellbeing, preventing sickness absence, and supporting safe return-to-work programmes.
  • Professional autonomy with opportunities to work independently in satellite clinics while remaining part of a highly supportive multi-disciplinary Occupational Health team.
  • Development opportunities including training in OH systems, report writing for management, and involvement in service evaluation and audit.

Please note: While this post meets the Skilled Worker sponsorship criteria, the Trust cannot offer sponsorship due to the short-term nature of the contract. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.

  • Provide expert advice on fitness for work, functional limitations, reasonable adjustments, and return-to-work planning.
  • Produce clear, comprehensive written reports to support management decision-making and case management.
  • Lead and contribute to wellbeing initiatives, group exercise classes, and preventative interventions across the Trusts.

Professional Leadership & Contribution

  • Act as an autonomous practitioner, using specialist knowledge to support colleagues and contribute to MDT case discussions.

  • Supervise students, assistants, and junior therapists, contributing to education and competency assessment.
  • Maintain accurate, legally compliant documentation and adhere to HCPC and CSP professional standards.
  • Uphold infection prevention measures and ensure all equipment is safe and well maintained.

Service Contribution

  • Assist with coordinating the daily operons of the Occupational Health physiotherapy function.
  • Support senior OH leadership teams with service planning, change management, and policy implementation.

  • Significant experience at Band 6 level or equivalent in MSK or related areas.
  • Expertise in complex MSK assessment, communication, risk management, and patient-centred care.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and under time pressures.
