About the Role
We are seeking Urgent Care Assistants to support the Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) services across Wiltshire, Swindon, and Bath & North East Somerset. This role involves a combination of driving and reception duties, assisting clinicians and patients during NHS 111 and GP Out of Hours services.
You will work within a 24/7 service, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts, helping ensure smooth and efficient care delivery to our service users.
Key Responsibilities
Driving Duties:
Safely transport clinicians to patients’ homes, following all current driving regulations.
Perform vehicle checks before and after shifts to ensure safety and readiness.
Accurately log medications and consumables used during shifts.
Base Duties:
Serve as the first point of contact for patients, carers, and relatives at the treatment centre.
Provide non-clinical support to clinicians on shift.
Assist patients in person and by phone, conducting welfare and comfort checks.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the treatment centre.
Medication & Stock Management:
Monitor and maintain stock levels of medications and supplies using computer systems.
Replenish vehicle and base stocks at shift end.
Understand stock rotation and expiry dates for medications.
Full training will be provided for all duties.
About You
Well-organised, personable, and hardworking with a compassionate approach.
Confident in interacting with patients, carers, and colleagues.
Ability to work calmly under pressure and respond professionally in emergency or stressful situations.
Strong attention to detail and administrative skills.
Possess a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points and good driving experience.
Willingness to undertake a driver’s medical assessment (post-interview).
Shift Patterns
Weekday evenings: Monday – Friday, approx. 18:15/18:30 to 23:00
Overnight shifts: Monday – Friday, 23:00 to 08:00
Weekend shifts: Saturday – Monday, 08:00 to 08:00 (various shifts covering mornings, evenings, and nights)
Overnight shifts are a required part of the rota.
