Are you curious, motivated and passionate about improving care through evidence? Livewell Southwest is offering an exciting opportunity to join our growing Research Team as a Research Nurse / Practitioner.
You do not need previous research experience to apply. What matters most is your enthusiasm for learning, your commitment to high-quality care and your interest in using research to improve outcomes for people and communities.
This is a varied, people-focused role where no two days are the same. You will work with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, helping to ensure research is delivered safely, ethically and with compassion.
What you will be doing
Working as part of a supportive research team, you will:
- Work directly with research participants in community, mental health and health and social care settings
- Deliver research studies in line with approved protocols, ensuring participant safety and wellbeing
- Support recruitment, informed consent, data collection and follow-up activities
- Clearly explain research studies to patients, carers and professionals
- Maintain accurate, confidential research documentation and records
- Use digital systems and databases to support study delivery
- Promote a positive research culture across Livewell Southwest services
- Contribute ideas to improve research processes and participant experience
- This is a hybrid role, combining home working with regular travel to community and office locations. Ongoing support and supervision are provided.
Working pattern and flexibility
- 22.5 hours per week
- Hybrid working model (home, office and community)
- Ability to work flexibly across a 7-day service when required

- Acts with openness, honesty and integrity
- Broad clinical experience in community or mental health settings would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Essential requirements
Professional registration
- Registered Nurse or registered Healthcare Professional
- Current registration with a UK regulatory body (NMC or HCPC)
Experience and skills
- Relevant and recent clinical experience
- Experience handling confidential patient information
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Ability to make independent decisions within scope of practice
- Confidence communicating complex information to patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams
- Good computer literacy, including use of databases and digital systems
Additional requirements
- Ability to work alone with patients in their homes, in line with lone working policies
- Ability to travel independently across the Livewell Southwest area
- Willingness to work across multiple sites, including community settings
- A genuine passion for research and evidence-based practice
Desirable criteria
- Experience delivering academic or commercial research studies
- Research training such as Good Clinical Practice (GCP) or informed consent modules
- Knowledge of clinical trials and research methodologies
- Understanding of data collection and data entry for clinical studies
- Full UK driving licence
