Previous research experience is not essential — what matters most is your enthusiasm for research, your commitment to high-quality care, and your willingness to learn. This role is ideal for a registered nurse or healthcare professional who enjoys variety, values accuracy and wants to contribute to meaningful research that makes a real difference to people’s lives.

What you will be doing

As a Research Nurse / Practitioner, you will:

• Work directly with research participants across community, mental health and health and social care settings
• Deliver research studies in line with approved protocols, ensuring participant safety and dignity
• Support recruitment, consent, data collection and follow-up activities
• Communicate complex research information clearly to participants, carers and professionals
• Maintain accurate and confidential research records and documentation
• Contribute to the development of efficient research processes and systems
• Promote a positive research culture across Livewell Southwest services
• Work independently while remaining closely connected to a supportive research team
• This is a hybrid role, combining home working with regular travel to community locations, offices and participant settings.

Working pattern and flexibility

• 22.5 hours per week
• Hybrid working (home, office and community-based)
• Ability to work across a 7-day service when required
• Job share applications are welcome

• Is enthusiastic about research and evidence-based practice
• Is willing to undertake further training to develop research skills
• Broad clinical experience in community or mental health settings would be an advantage.

Essential requirements

Qualifications and registration

• Registered Nurse or Healthcare Professional
• Current registration with a UK regulatory body (NMC or HCPC)

Experience and skills

• Relevant and recent clinical experience
• Ability to manage confidential patient information appropriately
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
• Ability to make independent decisions and work to deadlines
• Confidence in explaining complex information to patients, carers and professionals
• Computer literacy, including use of databases and digital systems

Additional requirements

• Ability to work alone with patients in their homes, in line with lone working policies
• Ability to travel independently across the Livewell Southwest area
• Willingness to work flexibly and across multiple sites
• Passion for research and commitment to promoting a research-active culture

Desirable criteria

• Previous experience delivering academic or commercial research studies
• Research training such as Good Clinical Practice (GCP) or informed consent modules
• Knowledge of clinical trials, research methodologies and data collection
• Understanding of the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research
• Full UK driving licence
