About the Service
Welcome to the CNWL Community Eating Disorders Service for Children and Young People — a highly specialised service within CAMHS dedicated to supporting young people and families affected by eating disorders.
Eating disorders work requires depth, sensitivity, and clinical expertise. Our aim is simple but vital: to improve timely access to high-quality, evidence-based care for children and young people.
About the Role
This is a senior clinical and leadership role within a well-established multidisciplinary team. As Senior Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert nursing leadership, clinical supervision, and line management to members of the CYP nursing team, while also contributing to service development across the All-Age Eating Disorders pathway.
- You will play a key role in delivering and shaping evidence-based interventions, supporting families, and ensuring safe, compassionate, and effective care across the service.

- Our clinical approach is rooted in nationally recommended best practice. Interventions delivered by the team include:
- Family Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (FT-AN)
- Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for eating disorders
- CBT-E, systemic therapy, and DBT-informed skills where individual work is more appropriate
- Structured parent support groups
- Joint working with CNWL CAMHS, paediatric services, and partner agencies to address co-morbidities
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead the assessment and treatment of children, young people, and families affected by eating disorders
- Deliver specialist interventions including FT-AN, FBT, CBT-E, DBT-informed skills, and other evidence-based models
- Provide senior nurse leadership, supervision, and professional guidance within the CYP nursing team
- Act as a highly skilled clinical role model within the multidisciplinary team
- Work closely with Adult Eating Disorder Services to ensure smooth and safe transition of care
- Liaise with GPs, paediatricians, CAMHS teams, schools, and partner agencies
- Contribute to service pathway development from referral through to discharge
- Provide consultation and specialist advice to referrers, families, and professionals
- Support clinical governance through audit, research, service evaluation, and policy development
- Take part in specialist projects and service innovations responding to local and national need
Our Multidisciplinary Team
You will work alongside a committed and highly skilled MDT including:
- Nursing and psychology staff
- Assistant psychologists
- Systemic psychotherapists and family therapists
- Dietitians and occupational therapists
- Paediatrics and psychiatry
The service is led collaboratively by a Clinical Team Lead, Consultant Psychiatrist, Lead Psychologist and Lead Family Therapist, within the wider All-Age Eating Disorders Service.
Where You’ll Be Based
- Primary site: Chelsea, adjacent to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
- Second site: Roxborough Road (near Harrow-on-the-Hill station)

Qualifications & Professional Requirements
Essential
- Registered Nurse with NMC registration (Mental Health Nurse – RNMH/RN3)
- Substantial post-registration experience in community mental health
- Significant experience working with children and young people with eating disorders
- Postgraduate training in relevant therapies (e.g. FT-AN, FBT, CBT-E, AFT, DBT)
- Mentorship / supervision training or equivalent
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Child & Adolescent Mental Health
- Experience in group work, parent interventions, or research
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
You will bring:
- Strong understanding of systemic theory, safeguarding, and child protection legislation
- Confidence managing complex clinical risk and multi-layered presentations
- Excellent communication skills — written and verbal
- Ability to work autonomously while recognising when to seek MDT input
- Cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse communities
- Commitment to reflective practice, supervision, and service improvement
