About the Role

The University of Reading is seeking a motivated and organised Assistant Student Recruitment and Access Officer to join our Global Recruitment team. This is a fixed-term, full-time role offering a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission of widening participation in higher education while gaining valuable experience in student recruitment and outreach.

You will play a vital part in delivering recruitment initiatives aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students, supporting both on-campus events and school/college outreach across the UK. The role is ideal for recent graduates, placement students, or those looking to begin a career in higher education administration.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will encompass three main areas:

Project Delivery:

  • Coordinate and support recruitment and outreach activities on campus.
  • Assist in creating engaging, student-led materials.
  • Support subject-specific recruitment events.

External Representation:

Act as a core representative for the University at school visits, higher education fairs, and outreach events.

Provide clear and engaging information to prospective students and their families about the benefits of higher education and studying at Reading.

Enquiries and Support:

  • Respond to prospective student queries via email and in-person interactions.
  • Work as part of a team to manage function-wide enquiry handling efficiently.

This role is classified as regulated activity. An Enhanced DBS with a child barred list check is required. Further information about safeguarding and disclosure procedures

About You

We are looking for a highly organised, confident, and enthusiastic individual who can:

  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, including students, teachers, and families.
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Work collaboratively in a small team environment while also being able to take initiative independently.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of higher education and the importance of widening participation.
  • Experience in education, outreach, or customer service is desirable but not essential – motivation and a proactive approach are the key attributes.
