About the Role
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-focused Quality Control Assistant to join our Pharmacy Quality Control team.
In this role, you will support the safe and efficient manufacture and supply of medicines across the Trust. The Quality Control service plays a vital role in supporting Aseptic Dispensing, Pre-Packing of Medicines, and the inspection of Unlicensed Medicines received by the hospital.
You will undertake a range of hands-on operational activities, helping to ensure medicines meet required quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a Quality Control Assistant, you will:
- Carry out environmental monitoring within pharmacy production areas
- Support quality control checks for aseptic and pre-packed medicines
- Assist with inspection of unlicensed medicines received by the Trust
- Maintain accurate documentation and records, ensuring compliance with procedures
- Support equipment validation and monitoring activities
- Follow written procedures and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary pharmacy team
- Meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Person Specification
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Experience in quality control or quality assurance (equivalent to NVQ Level 3)
- Confident using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to complete documentation accurately and consistently
- Ability to follow written procedures
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations
Desirable Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of pharmaceutical production or Quality Control processes
- Basic knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Interest in the technical aspects of Quality Control
Qualifications
Essential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science, Maths, and English at Grade C or above
- Relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 2 in Pharmaceutical Science or Quality Assurance
Experience
Essential
- Experience working accurately in a regulated or quality-focused environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience of product checking, quality assurance, or quality control
- Experience working within a GMP-regulated environment
