Job Description
About the Role
The University of Reading is seeking an Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) Coordinator to support inclusive postgraduate education within the Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) based in the Department of Meteorology.
This role plays a central part in shaping a welcoming, accessible, and supportive environment for PhD students across the Crocus Doctoral Landscape Award and AI INTERVENE Doctoral Focal Award. Working collaboratively with colleagues at the University of Reading, Swansea University, and external partners, you will help ensure that equality, diversity, and inclusion principles are meaningfully embedded into doctoral training and student experience.
Why This Role Matters
Doctoral training environments are at their strongest when students feel a sense of belonging, fairness, and opportunity. In this role, you will help translate inclusive values into practical actions—supporting students, guiding colleagues, and ensuring resources are targeted where they make the greatest difference.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about EDI, enjoys coordination and partnership working, and wants to make a tangible impact within higher education and research training.
Key Responsibilities
As EDI Coordinator, you will:
- Coordinate and support EDI initiatives across the Crocus and AI INTERVENE doctoral programmes.
- Manage and monitor EDI-related funding to support PhD student wellbeing, accessibility, and inclusion.
- Work with academic and professional colleagues across partner institutions to share good practice and embed inclusive approaches.
- Contribute to the development of policies, guidance, and activities that promote equitable access and participation.
- Act as a key point of contact for EDI-related matters within the Doctoral Training Centre.
- Support reporting, evaluation, and continuous improvement of EDI activity.
About You
You will bring:
- Excellent organisation and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confidence in building positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.
- A proactive, collaborative, and adaptable approach to work.
- The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and solve problems constructively.
Visa Information
Due to the complexity of the Skilled Worker visa route, applicants who may require sponsorship are advised to check their eligibility independently before applying. Visa options will only be discussed with candidates invited to interview.
