Job Description

About the Role

At Tesco, people are at the heart of everything we do, especially in our pharmacy team.

As a Duty Pharmacy Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to truly make a difference in others’ lives. Whether you’re supporting pharmacists, offering excellent services to customers, or strengthening community ties, your work will positively impact hundreds of people daily.

We’re committed to helping you be your best, no matter what life brings your way. That’s why we provide uninterrupted “me time” away from the pharmacy, allowing you to relax, recharge, and refuel.

In addition to these wellness breaks, you’ll have plenty of career opportunities, with leadership training from industry experts to help you progress. And if you have ideas for improvements, we’ll make sure your voice is heard.

This role is all about doing good, feeling good, and advancing your career. Let’s make each day a little better.

Your Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescriptions, offer NHS and private services, and provide healthcare advice to customers.
  • Play an active role in our charity support program, offering guidance to individuals in the community at risk of or living with cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager in leading, training, and developing the pharmacy team.
  • Help build and maintain relationships with Primary Care Networks and GP surgeries.
  • Ensure accurate payment claims for NHS-covered items.

What You’ll Need

  • A Pharmacy Degree.
  • A passion for leading and empowering teams.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and willingness to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme – we’ll assist you with this when you receive the offer.
  • A DBS check (arranged by us) before starting your employment.

What’s In It For You

Tesco Pharmacies are led and supported exclusively by pharmacists, and we’re always exploring new ways to deliver the best service to our communities. We offer a secure and flexible work environment with fantastic benefits, making Tesco a great place to work. These include:

  • GPhC fee coverage each year.
  • 25 days of holiday, plus a personal day, and Bank holidays.
  • A holiday salary sacrifice scheme to buy additional days.
  • Savings of up to £2,000 per year on most Tesco purchases.
  • Annual bonus of up to 20% of your salary.
  • A contributory pension scheme.
  • 26 weeks of full pay maternity/adoption leave (after 1 year of service), followed by 13 weeks of statutory pay, plus 4 weeks of fully paid paternity leave.
  • The right to request flexible working from your first day.
  • Exclusive pharmacy training program in partnership with Diabetes UK, Cancer Research UK, and British Heart Foundation.
  • A structured Pharmacy Leadership training plan designed by industry experts.
  • Generous colleague discounts on everyday purchases.
  • Expert support through the UK health and social care visa application process.
  • Access to our colleague networks, offering a space for employees from diverse backgrounds to come together. For more information about these networks, click here.
