Job Vacancy: Band 3 Generic Therapy Support Worker

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role? We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and innovative Band 3 Generic Therapy Support Worker to join our therapy teams at Good Hope Hospital. This permanent position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic acute care setting, providing support across both physiotherapy and occupational therapy services.

Role Overview:

As a Band 3 Generic Therapy Support Worker, you will work closely with experienced therapists, assisting in the delivery of therapy services to patients. Under the supervision of a registered physiotherapist or occupational therapist, you will manage a defined caseload and assist in various clinical tasks. The role involves a mix of direct patient care, assessments, and equipment management.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the delivery of therapy services to patients within the relevant clinical area.

Assist physiotherapists and occupational therapists with clinical interventions, under supervision.

Conduct initial screening assessments and follow referral criteria, with guidance and training.

Independently fit and deliver equipment, ensuring correct height measurements and adjustments as per the therapist’s instructions.

Plan and deliver therapeutic activities aimed at improving patients’ daily living skills, physical rehabilitation, and mobility.

Support the “Eat, Drink, Dress, and Keep Moving” approach alongside ward and therapy teams.

Safely use and maintain equipment, ensuring a duty of care towards all resources and assets.

Participate in the development of patient care plans and provide feedback on patient progress to registered therapists.

Be prepared to work flexibly, including participation in a 7-day working rota.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Interest in working with older adults and those with medical conditions.

Experience in therapy or healthcare settings, with a focus on patient care.

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Commitment to delivering patient-centred care with empathy and understanding.

Competence in basic clinical and therapeutic tasks, with the ability to seek support when necessary.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Qualifications:

GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths.

A Level / NVQ Level 3 / BTEC or similar qualification, or equivalent experience in a care setting.

Care Certificate (or willingness to work towards this).
