Salary:
Current: £28,759 – £32,645 per annum
From 1 July 2025: £29,897 – £34,008 per annum, with potential to progress to £35,912
Additional unsociable hours allowance: rising to £1,614.12 per annum
Play a Key Role in Safety and Community at Worcester
We’re looking for a dedicated and proactive individual to take on the role of Team Leader within our University Community and Security team. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead, support, and mentor our University Community and Security Officers (UCSOs), helping to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all students, staff, and visitors across our campuses.
As Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, supporting high service standards, and ensuring all procedures are followed. You’ll work closely with the Head of Security & Operations and other university leaders to maintain the safety, reputation, and community connections of the University of Worcester.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leading and supporting a dedicated team of UCSOs
Ensuring the safety of people, property, and facilities through proactive presence and swift response
Overseeing the team’s daily operations in line with departmental policies
Supporting the prevention of incidents such as theft, vandalism, and anti-social behaviour
Building and maintaining strong relationships with students, staff, visitors, and local community members
Supporting the University’s commitment to community safety through the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS)
As part of CSAS, accredited team members hold limited legal powers to help address public issues—such as littering, street drinking, and nuisance behaviour—in cooperation with police and local authorities.
Working Pattern
This role operates on a shift-based schedule and covers:
Nights, weekends, and bank holidays
All University of Worcester sites, including St John’s Campus, the City Centre Campus, and satellite locations
