About the Role
The Department of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy at Royal Holloway, University of London, is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Political Theory (Teaching Focused) on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 12 months. The position is expected to commence in September 2025 and will primarily provide teaching cover for an existing member of staff.
As part of your responsibilities, you will:
- Convene and teach undergraduate modules including:
- Classic and Contemporary Readings in Politics and International Relations (Introduction to Political Philosophy)
- Modern Political Thought
- Contemporary Anglo-American Political Theory
- Political Theories of Freedom
- Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality student experience
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of both the history of political thought from the 17th century and contemporary Anglo-American political theory
About the Department
The Department is part of the School of Law and Social Sciences and delivers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes to a diverse and engaged student body. The department supports and contributes to interdisciplinary research through various research centres, including:
- Contemporary Political Theory Group
- Democracy and Elections Centre
- Global Politics and Development Centre
- Centre for International Security
- Centre for Islamic and West Asian Studies
- New Political Communication Unit
- Gender Institute
