Software Certification Engineer – Aviation Systems

About the Role
As a Software Certification Engineer, you will lead certification planning and ensure regulatory compliance for assigned projects across GE Aviation Systems. This business segment supports a diverse portfolio, including power generation and distribution, navigation systems, cockpit displays, computing and networking, ignition systems, sensors, and propellers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define product certification strategies and establish certification bases for programs
  • Support compliance planning and the identification of appropriate means of compliance
  • Contribute to the development of integrated and cohesive project plans
  • Review development artefacts as required to ensure alignment with certification objectives
  • Conduct pre-assessment audits for internal projects and external suppliers
  • Evaluate product artifacts and verification activities to ensure compliance with certification requirements
  • Assist with customer and regulatory authority audits
  • Collaborate with Integrated Project Teams to address and resolve audit findings, actions, and observations
  • Participate in relevant industry working groups to stay current with evolving standards and practices

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in software development and/or certification within RTCA/DO-178B or DO-178C environments
  • Proven ability to demonstrate compliance with software certification regulations
