The company is looking for a Senior Computer Vision Engineer to work with a team of specialists on mission-critical challenges using advanced computer vision subsystems. This technology is critical for spacecraft to perform difficult tasks including as rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking with uncontrolled, unpredictable objects.

As part of a global team, the successful Senior Computer Vision Engineer will manage the Computer Vision subsystem, including algorithms, simulations, and hardware. Your tasks will entail developing and prototyping computer vision algorithms for their missions, as well as assisting with validation and testing activities.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Computer Vision Engineer:

  • Create and implement unique computer vision algorithms for space object recognition and tracking, as well as 6 degrees of freedom pose estimation for space applications.
  • Help with CV hardware buying for missions.
  • Contribute to CV verification and validation planning and implementation.
  • Support CV subsystem testing activities, including hardware-in-the-loop.
  • Facilitate the integration and testing of CV software implementations.
  • Support CV hardware procurement activities in collaboration with vendors and supply chain management engineers.
  • Collaborate with other technical disciplines (Systems, Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC), Flight Dynamics, etc.) to plan, design, and create missions/systems that ensure software and hardware performance and compatibility.

 

Required Skills and Experience for Senior Computer Vision Engineers:

  • Degree-level understanding of an engineering, scientific, or mathematical discipline, or equivalent science and engineering experience.
  • Experience combining visual data from many sources (actual and manufactured).
  • firsthand experience building and developing CV solutions.
  • Experience with any or all of the following:
  • Industrial experience with computer vision applications
  • Detection, tracking, and classification techniques.
  • Programming languages like Python and C/C++
  • Version control systems (git)

Desirable –

  • Master’s or PhD in computer vision, machine learning, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with space applications.
  • Experience with a lidar-based CV application.
  • Experience with ML and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
