About the role.
Printing, packing, and securely delivering millions of test items to our clients all around the world helps Group Print & Operations meet their needs. Managing the life-changing scripts returned from our students and getting them ready for either a physical or digital evaluation falls also under our responsibility.
With responsibility for recommending and implementing continuous improvement ideas on a wide range of electrical and mechanical plant throughout our Group Print and Operations distribution sites, you, as Building Maintenance Supervisor, will have lots of opportunity for innovation.
Important duties:
Team Coach
- Lead and organise the GPaO Engineering teams’ building maintenance engineers or technicians on managed properties.
- Review performance criteria and appraisals for every direct employee addressing any future training or development requirements.
- By supervising the Engineering team activities, you help the Assistant Engineering Manager to uphold the best safety standards inclusive of regulatory compliance.
- Encourage a safe and always improving culture in all facets of the engineering division.
Architectural Maintenance of Buildings and Equipment
- Organise and complete the yearly Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedule as well as all reactive repairs for systems, mechanical and electrical equipment, assets.
- Plan, budget, oversee projects including reactive maintenance, testing, and electrical installation; keep completely recorded audit records.
- Work with the Assistant Engineering Manager to organise different maintenance, minor repairs, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
- In line with Company policies and procedures, manage on site contractors to guarantee they are completely inducted and briefed on the work they are expected to do.
- Help and contribute to the knowledge flow on site systems and infrastructure thereby guaranteeing the best operation of the structures and machinery.
For all planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, help to shape safe methods of work and standard operating procedures.
Although this is a days-based position, there will be a need to engage in an out-of-hour rota call-out system and occasionally work shifts may be needed.
About you
Having a trade certification in an electrical, mechanical, or construction discipline will qualify you for NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in leadership or supervision.
- Certified Electrical Qualification to an Approved Grade: certified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent to JIB Approved grade for electricians. Including minimum one of the following:
- Certified City and Guilds 2382 to current IET wiring rules (BS7671).
- Certified City and Guilds 2391 qualification or the new equivalent qualification based on inspection and testing
- IOSH Working Safely – Managing Safely or equivalent (preferred).
- Experience with MS Office, fundamental computer literacy skills
- competent and able to work at heights (usage of MEWP’s is vital).
The qualified applicant will be very good in analytical fault-finding and problem-solving. Along with excellent interpersonal, team-working, and customer service abilities, a flexible working style is absolutely vital.
