Field Services Engineer (Customer Support)

This position encompasses the management of all resources and logistics necessary for conducting service and maintenance activities at customer sites. These efforts focus on maintaining, repairing, and refurbishing both sold and pre-existing products, covering preventive and remedial maintenance, as well as overseeing maintenance facilities and field services engineering. The role involves ownership or influence over budgets and operating plans, guided by established policies, and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams. With autonomy within a specific operational scope or segment of a broader business unit, this position can significantly impact a small business unit, functional family, or profit and loss (P&L) outcomes. Success demands strong evaluative judgment and operational expertise.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary customer liaison, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of issues across a wide range of support services for an assigned region, product, or coverage area.

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the assigned region, coverage area, or product lines, including their configurations, acting as the key conduit to internal resources for customer support.

  • Foster ongoing relationships to deliver continuous technical and business assistance to customers within a designated geographic region or coverage area.

  • Build expertise within the function, potentially emerging as a discipline expert or thought leader.

  • Shape operational policies and ensure execution within the scope of responsibility, coordinating with other organizational units.

  • Analyze internal and external business dynamics, recommending best practices to enhance products, processes, or services.

  • Apply industry trends to guide informed decision-making.

  • Guide teams in devising innovative solutions within complex, technically diverse, or interdependent manufacturing processes.

  • Utilize advanced operational, product management, or engineering techniques, collaborating with adjacent functions to address challenges.

  • Assess the reliability of incoming information, probing inconsistencies for deeper analysis.

  • Leverage diverse internal and external resources beyond the immediate function to reach decisions.

  • Potentially lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource needs, risks, or complexity.

  • Present business or technical solutions to leadership.

  • Convey complex ideas and negotiate internally to shift perspectives, while influencing peers to act and occasionally negotiating with external partners, vendors, or customers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in Services & Customer Service Management, equivalent to a Master’s degree from an accredited institution (or a high school diploma supplemented by relevant experience).
