Job Description

Join Our Team: Band 6 Deputy Charge Nurse – Ward B23 Orthopaedic Trauma Unit

About the Ward

Ward B23 is a busy 32-bed unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, specialising in orthopaedic trauma care. We also manage some elective patients alongside our trauma caseload. Our team is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-focused care, ensuring every person has a supportive and positive journey from the moment they arrive until they head home.

We’re part of a close-knit, multidisciplinary group that includes nurses, doctors, therapists, and support staff – all working together to serve our local communities with kindness and expertise.

The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced registered nurse to step into this Band 6 Deputy Charge Nurse position. You’ll need solid clinical knowledge in orthopaedic or surgical care, along with proven skills in patient assessment, care planning, and managing complex needs safely.

In this leadership role, you’ll:

  • Support the Senior Charge Nurse by leading shifts, supervising the team, and stepping up when needed
  • Prioritise care for patients who become acutely unwell
  • Oversee smooth admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Act as a positive role model, championing patient safety, compassionate care, and professional standards
  • Promote openness, honesty, and integrity in everything we do

Relevant experience after registration is required, and you’ll bring energy, motivation, and a real commitment to high-quality nursing.

Development and Support

We truly value growing our people. You’ll play a key part in supporting newer staff and students through mentoring, preceptorship, and creating hands-on learning experiences. In return, we’ll encourage you to keep building your own skills and knowledge – we’re invested in your ongoing professional growth.

If This Sounds Like You…

This can be a demanding but incredibly rewarding role in a fast-paced environment. If you’re ready to make a real difference and lead with compassion, we’d love to hear from you.
