Specialist Community Practitioner Sponsorship Student – Community Nursing SPQ
North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT)

NELFT is inviting applications from three enthusiastic and qualified nurses who are keen to undertake the Community Nursing Specialist Practitioner Qualification (DNSPQ) beginning in January 2026. Successful candidates will receive a fixed-term contract with NELFT to complete the one-year full-time course, delivered in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University.

Course & Entry Requirements

This development post is designed to build on your existing skills and knowledge, leading to both an academic qualification and a recordable award with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a NMC Registered Nurse (Level 1) with current professional registration and demonstrate safe, effective practice at the proficiency required for the NMC-approved Community Nursing SPQ programme.
  • Meet the NMC (2018) requirements for V300 Independent Prescribing, including at least one year of NMC registration.
  • Have the academic ability to study at Level 7 (usually evidenced by previous Level 6 study).
  • Provide satisfactory references and complete Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.

Starting with NELFT

All new starters join NELFT on the first Monday of the month and attend a comprehensive induction programme of up to two weeks. This includes:

  • Mandatory and systems training
  • Allocation of equipment
  • Opportunities to meet the Executive Team and senior managers
  • Sessions on engagement, health and wellbeing

Inductions are held at our Head Office in Rainham, Essex.

Employment Details

  • Probationary Period: All new staff will be subject to a probationary period (unless exempt as per NELFT policy).
  • High-Cost Area Supplement: This role attracts a supplement of 15% of basic salary (minimum £4,714 – maximum £5,941 p.a., pro rata for part-time staff).
  • Visa Sponsorship: Applications for Skilled Worker visas are welcomed from candidates who meet the UKVI eligibility requirements
