Interview Date: July 10th, 2024
About the role
Are you interested in creating transport policy that will define the improvements required to improve Brighton & Hove’s transport network to address the problems it faces? We require someone with an inquisitive mind, strong analytical and communication abilities to help us update our Local Transport Plan.
Initially, this will entail creating a solid evidence base for how the transport network is currently working and determining where changes are required. We will then need to interact with stakeholders and the public to communicate our findings and establish policies to address the challenges raised. We will then create an action plan to implement the necessary adjustments.
As a council, we are dedicated to establishing a network that better connects residents, businesses, and visitors, resulting in a higher quality of life in a healthy, inclusive, and carbon neutral community. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a service that has a direct impact on how everyone travels in Brighton and Hove.
About the role
As a Transport Planning Officer (Policy), you will be assigned to the City Transport Division’s Transport Policy & Strategy team. You’ll be liable for:
- Providing assistance in organising a complex work schedule to ensure that activities are completed on time.
- The creation and execution of transport planning policy.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including the general public, to present evidence gathered and co-create policy with their input.
- Organising stakeholder events and keeping correct records in accordance with data protection guidelines.
- Assisting with financing proposals.
- Assisting with administrative tasks for the team
You will be based at our offices in Hove Town Hall, however flexible working arrangements, including home-working, are available. While working at City Transport, you will be collaborating with colleagues from throughout the council, particularly those in planning and public health.
We provide outstanding terms and conditions, including the Local Government Pension Scheme, excellent training and development, extensive annual leave, and employee discounts.
Contract: Permanent Hours: Full-time, 37/week
