Quantity Surveying Graduate Program – Transmission 2025
Duration: 2 year program starting September 2025.
Location: Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow, or Perth.
Annual salary is approximately £33,500, with additional benefits for family, finances, and well-being.
Degree disciplines include quantity surveying and construction in the built environment.
About the role:
As a quantity surveying graduate with SSEN Transmission, you will pursue a specialised route. During their graduate program, specialists will acquire exposure to a business area and collaborate with experts in their field. The goal is to build experience that can lead to a significant position.
Working as part of our multi-disciplined Procurement and Commercial team, a recent or prospective graduate can join our graduate programme and receive the knowledge and experience required to progress to a Junior Contract Manager post.
At SSEN Transmission, we are currently working on a number of high-profile transmission projects to ensure that our transmission network can transfer clean renewable energy while being safe, efficient, and structurally sound, resulting in sustainable and reliable energy for all.
Our aim is to offer sustainable dividend growth to shareholders by efficiently operating and investing in a diverse range of regulated and non-regulated businesses.
Our Procurement and Commercial team is in charge of assisting the business in obtaining services and materials on schedule and within budget. We collaborate across the SSE Group to ensure that our businesses receive the best possible service and value from our supplier network, as well as that all service providers remain compliant and continue to meet contractual responsibilities and business requirements. You will have the opportunity to learn and expand your procurement and commercial management abilities through a variety of initiatives.
A placement strategy, regular meetings with your line manager, and networking with key business leaders through quarterly placement reviews can all help you succeed in your career. Your placements may include, but are not limited to, the following teams: finance, regulation, development, and assurance, as well as experience in our engineering and operations teams, to provide you with the knowledge necessary to advance to the position of Junior Contract Manager.
What do I need?
You’ll need at least a 2:2 in a suitable Quantity Surveying / Construction in the Built Environment degree.
We’d like you to have some hands-on work experience that displays your enthusiasm for the energy business, as well as shown teamwork skills. You’ll also be comfortable working to and exceeding individual targets, as well as taking initiative to overcome problems, and you should have a real interest in SSEN Transmission and the prospect of a long-term career with us.
