Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available on the Neonatal Unit for qualified Band 5 Staff Nurses. We are looking for passionate, motivated, and enthusiastic nurses eager to take on new challenges and work as part of the dynamic Neonatal team at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.

As a Band 5 nurse, you will provide exceptional care to Cornwall’s most vulnerable families on the Neonatal Unit. This role offers numerous education and training opportunities, with continuous professional development within a supportive team environment.

We take pride in being part of the UK’s first Simulation study days, with regular SIMS held weekly within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Work as a skilled member of the Neonatal Unit nursing team, providing high-quality, family-integrated care.

Act as a role model and clinical expert practitioner, promoting family-centered care and building strong relationships with babies and their families.

Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team at all levels.

Collaborate with the Community Neonatal Outreach Team to support families as they prepare for discharge.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice.

Act as a named nurse for patient care on the Neonatal Unit and in Transitional Care, ensuring smooth discharge care pathways.

Ensure the safe provision of care on the Neonatal Unit.

Deliver compassionate, dignified care, managing time efficiently while cooperating with other staff, tasks, and resources.

Participate in the training and assessment of peers and staff.

Work within the boundaries of competence and adhere to local and national protocols and procedures.
