Job Description

 

Job Purpose

As a member of the School Professional Services Leadership Team, you will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the School’s Learning & Teaching strategy, with a particular emphasis on meeting student recruitment targets, expanding internationalisation opportunities, and developing teaching portfolios.

A primary objective of the post will be to support the School’s student growth ambitions by ensuring successful operationalisation of recruitment and conversion activity and directing the School’s admissions process in collaboration with the University’s External Relations division.

You will advise on the future shape of the School’s portfolio and identify major collaboration and mobility opportunities to boost growth and improve the School’s profile.

In pursuit of service excellence, you will lead and contribute to a variety of School, College, and University projects.

The post reports directly to the School’s Head of Professional Services.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

1. The key professional services lead collaborates with colleagues from the School, College, and External Relations to support the School’s student recruiting targets. Responsible for ensuring that the necessary student conversion plans are properly implemented, and as the School’s student admissions process owner, identifying and implementing major opportunities to improve both process efficiency and decision-making quality.

2. To inform and support the School’s Internationalisation Strategy. Develop critical international partnerships with senior colleagues to help diversify recruitment, raise profile, and provide student/staff mobility options. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring adherence to the applicable University partnership compliance framework and effective operationalisation, as well as a review mechanism to ensure that these collaborations continue to deliver on the School’s and College’s strategic objectives.

3. Facilitate the implementation of the School’s internationalisation strategy through excellent relationship management, networking, and opportunity development.

4. Establish and maintain significant external collaborations that will influence the future development of the School’s Learning and Teaching portfolio.

5. Expand the School’s Learning and Teaching portfolio through domestic and international external partnerships.

6. A senior contributor and project manager in charge of examining and assessing the current Learning and Teaching portfolio. Management of the programme and course approvals process, collaborating with colleagues from the School, College, and External Relations to ensure the portfolio remains appealing to the student market and meets the School’s strategic student growth goals.

7. To inform the University’s Income Growth Working Group, the post-holder will be responsible for providing relevant analytical insight and trends analysis on the School’s portfolio, as well as tracking efforts towards delivering sustainable student growth.

8. Work with senior colleagues to develop major international alliances that will enable increasing student and staff mobility by providing more chances in international projects with both academic partners and corporations.

9. important professional services are responsible for identifying important opportunities to improve the School’s external rankings performance, including competitor benchmarking and delivery against relevant University KPIs, with a focus on Learning and Teaching and Internationalisation.

10. Lead and develop a high-performing professional services team to ensure effective support for the School Student Recruitment team.

11. Senior member of the School’s Professional Services team, contributing to our goal of providing excellent service.

12. Collaborate with senior academic colleagues to strengthen links with practice in all sectors of our economy – public, private, and third – and to co-create possibilities for students, staff, and partners. Pursue external engagement opportunities to improve the School’s reputation at the local, national, and worldwide levels.

13. Collaborate with senior colleagues to create a strong framework to ensure compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies and quality assurance processes.

14. Fill in for the Head of Professional Services for the School as needed.

 

Knowledge, qualifications, skills, and experience.

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9 (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent, with personal development experience in a similar or related role(s). OR the ability to demonstrate the abilities required to perform the activities connected with this level of the post after acquiring the relevant knowledge and management skills in a similar or multiple roles.

A2 Strong knowledge of the Higher Education industry, including student recruitment, partnership development, and potential sector difficulties.

A3 Understanding of Lean/Process Improvement and Project Management.

A4 Understanding of governance and business procedures in a large, complex firm.

Desirable:

B1 Solid understanding of university funding and governance procedures.

B2 A broad understanding of financial management within a budgetary control framework.

Experience

Essential:

E1 Proven administrative management/leadership experience in a big complex business.

E2 Extensive and recent experience as a business partner, collaborating with senior personnel to define, develop, and implement strategic objectives.

E3 Extensive experience delivering analytical insight to support high-quality decision making.

E4 Proven track record of successful project management and process improvement.

E5 Experience in higher education marketing and/or student recruiting.

Terms & Conditions.

The annual salary for Grade 7 will range between £39,347 and £44,263.

This position is full-time (35 hours per week) and open-ended (permanent).
