JOB SUMMARY

 

The Production Leader leads large hourly teams to guarantee that the shop’s daily and weekly operations meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. The Production Leader will be able to influence the quality of their own work and the work of their teams by serving as a significant information resource for several sections. This role is based on a shift schedule and will include some weekends.

Job Description.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Oversee and manage all sectors utilising Lean principles, including 5S, workplace organisation, and daily management (SQDCP), to ensure:

Section safety standards are strategically monitored and continuously improved.

Strategic monitoring of section quality standards aims for ongoing development.

Lead several sections with full decision-making autonomy to meet the delivery plan. Resolves problems that necessitate good process knowledge and judgement within established company procedures.

Ensures daily management processes are followed at the section level to maximise productivity and cost compliance.

Responsible for managing employee attendance, absences, and performance.

Achieve critical responsibilities by:

Manages the area’s production workers, enabling cross-team flexibility and assuring site-wide collaboration.

Strong awareness of important business drivers and Lean tools, and applies this knowledge to achieve priorities established during the annual review process.

Sections are managed strategically, including tools requirements and training programs.

Leading problem solving when escalated by section and communicating with numerous cross-functional departments as needed.

Coaches section leaders to promote good communication in order to create and maintain a happy work environment.

The strict execution of established policies and procedures pertaining to people leadership matters.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Previous experience in section/people leadership or a similar role is preferred but not required.

Previous experience in the aviation industry (desired) or a similarly highly regulated/manufacturing environment is required.

Proactive approach to problem solving with agile collaborative skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to speak with all levels of management.

Existence or ability to achieve Lean tool champion status.
