About the Role
This role is primarily focused on teaching, learning, and assessment within the medical undergraduate curriculum. A key responsibility is leading the BSMS mentor programme, which involves supporting 4th-year medical students through registrar-led mentorship. You will also contribute to personal and professional development (PPD) modules for students across all years and offer clinical supervision aligned with your specialty.
Additionally, you will lead the careers week for students in years 2-4, contribute to the admissions process, and teach on the Teacher Support Course (TIME). The post-holder will lead a Student Selected Component within the undergraduate curriculum and support the rollout of Sofia curriculum mapping software. Other duties include contributing to admissions interviews, standard setting, writing knowledge tests, and designing OSCEs.
The role also provides an opportunity to engage in medical education research, either through novel projects or collaboration with existing research groups. There will be a chance to apply theories of curriculum development and assessment, such as decolonising the curriculum, mapping it, or evolving assessment methods.
The department offers the opportunity to complete three funded postgraduate modules or an equivalent qualification in education as part of this role.
