Job Description
Band 7 – Clinical Nurse Specialist (CYP Eating Disorders)
NELFT CYP Intensive Community Treatment Service – HIVE
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our innovative, nurse-led Children and Young People (CYP) Eating Disorder Intensive Community Treatment Team, known as HIVE. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary service delivering intensive community care to young people and their families.
About the HIVE Service
HIVE provides an 8-week, needs-led intensive community programme for young people under the care of the Eating Disorder Service who require additional support to avoid hospital admission or relapse. The service delivers tailored interventions including therapeutic support, physical health monitoring, meal support, family-based therapy (FBT), and individualised care planning. Care is delivered through a blended model of face-to-face and virtual sessions in non-hospital environments such as family homes and clinics.
When hospital admission is necessary, HIVE supports a smooth transition, offering in-reach support to maintain care continuity and assisting with early discharge planning.
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist within HIVE, you will work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to:
Deliver in-reach support to local General Adolescent Units (GAUs), ensuring continuity of care from community to inpatient settings.
Liaise with paediatric inpatient teams to ensure seamless care transitions from acute medical admission to discharge.
Support and guide hospital teams in implementing eating disorder-specific care plans, particularly in complex or co-morbid presentations.
Conduct meal support and participate in ward-based care planning discussions, including weekly liaison and MDT meetings.
Provide detailed handovers, risk assessments, and collaborative formulations to inpatient teams.
Contribute to weekly bed management meetings as required.
Working at NELFT

As a new starter, you’ll join a structured two-week induction programme, which includes mandatory training, systems orientation, and the opportunity to engage with senior leaders and wellbeing initiatives. This induction is held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
