About the Role

We are seeking a Service Manager to lead our Children and Young People Disability Service (CYPDS) within Children’s Social Care. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dedicated team and contribute to the strategic delivery of services for children with disabilities.

As a Service Manager, you will oversee the management and development of frontline child protection and safeguarding services, ensuring that our practices are child-centred and compliant with local and national legislation. You will lead four teams, consisting of Team Managers and social care professionals, ensuring that services meet the needs of vulnerable children and young people.

Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership to a team of social care professionals, ensuring all interventions prioritise the best interests of the children and young people in our care.

Develop and implement child-focused policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance service delivery and outcomes.

Oversee budget planning and resource allocation to ensure services remain efficient and sustainable.

Promote the highest safeguarding standards, ensuring vulnerable children’s welfare is always maintained.

Foster a positive team culture that encourages professional development and a high standard of practice.

Lead the delivery of Child in Need and Child Protection services, guiding processes from assessment to care proceedings.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • A Social Work Degree or equivalent qualification, registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience at Team Manager level (ideally 4+ years) with demonstrated experience in frontline safeguarding practice.
  • Proven leadership skills and expertise in social care, with the ability to develop services in response to changing needs and policies.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
  • A thorough understanding of Children Act 1989 and Working Together 2023, alongside practical knowledge of social work practices.
  • A track record of achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
